Before The Dinosaurs are Moncton’s reigning indie-rock band coming off their recent win for Music NB Breakthrough Artist of the Year 2023. Before The Dinosaurs are an eclectic 4 piece rock outfit who effortlessly shift between genres, tempos, and time signatures, and have no regard for following any kind of rules – musical or otherwise. The term ROCK is used loosely as a starting point, but if I had to draw comparisons at gunpoint, I would query elements of Cake – meets Death Cab – meets RHCP – meets Blind Melon. A sort of nouveau-hippie-funk-grunge-tour-de-force that neither asks for, nor offers any apologies for existing.
Shadow Folk about half a century and an entire continent removed from the West Coast and the sounds of The Association, The Seeds, and Jefferson Airplane, but you wouldn’t necessarily know it. The Nova Scotian rock and roll/psych-pop band has tapped directly into another era to bring us “Contemplation,” a song that could have ridden in on the crest of psychedelia. The backbone of Shadow Folk is made up of none other than Justin McGrath (guitar, vocals) Jordan Murphy (drums)—both of Halifax’s psych-pop band Walrus—with Ian Bennett (bass, vocals) of the Motown monsters Roxy + The Underground Soul Sound. The trio is also joined by a rotating cast of second guitar players that has Jake Rann as their current guitar player but has included the likes of Keith McFadden, Keith Doiron, Adam Ledrew.
The Jambles – Matthew Clowes & Corey Hachey are two parts of the 4 piece band, FM Berlin. With several hits on spotify over the years, the band has seen a fair amount of local success. More recently, as time passes they have been working on several new songs as a duo. Reinventing themselves as The Jambles. Keep your ears peeled for anything they do because they should be selling out arenas around the world. We’re lucky enough to have them right here!
